Arya's Madraspattinam

Director Vijay says that Madaraspatinam is not a film about freedom struggle. He clarified this recently as there were reports that Madaraspatinam could be film Indian Independence struggle. It may be recalled that this is a period film based in 1940s.

The director said that this is romantic flick and is totally different from his earlier ventures Kireedom and Poi Solla Porom. Vijay said that Arya has done a great work in the film and has also learnt the traditional “Kusthi” fight.

A set, worth Rs. 70 lakhs, has been constructed in Kelambakkam to depict the Chennai of the 1940s. The director added that people of that generation will definitely turn nostalgic and appreciate the effort.
