Boss Engira Baskaran: Highlights and sidelights

Success has not changed filmmaker Rajesh. The 'Siva Manasula Sakthi' director, who is currently directing Arya and Nayantara for 'Boss Engira Baskaran', would speak with no airs and graces whenever he finds time.

He spoke to us from the sets of 'BEB', throwing light on the film and its artistes. "Boss Engira Baskaran too will be packed with humour. But the dosage will be limited. It would be a film for the whole family, quite like 'Varusham 16'. You could feel the freshness right from the beginning till end."

On the highlights of the film, he said, "Everything is a highlight in the movie. From Arya playing a bubbly youth to Nayantara's reentry to Santhanam's performance, everything will be a highlight. Sakthi Saravanan's cinematography, Yuvan Shankar Raja's music and Na Muthukumar's lyrics are other assets. Adding more flavour to all these things is the script."

Asked him about roping in Arya for the lead role, he said, "I and Arya were friends ever since he did a cameo in 'SMS'. I narrated him the storyline and he was impressed by it. Producer K S Srinivasan, who wanted to do a film with Arya again after 'Naan Kadavul', readily came forward to produce the movie."

When we asked Rajesh to spill some beans on the storyline, he said with a smile, "I don't want to break the suspense. Wait till the movie's release to know more."

Arya is Apt

Arya is ready to test the waters with a romantic comedy ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’. Rajesh, who spelt success with his maiden venture ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’, will direct Arya and Nayantara for the film.

Produced by Sreenivasan of Vasan Visual Ventures, the movie features comedian Santhanam in a key role while Yuvan Shankar Raja is scoring the music. Rajesh is thrilled to direct Arya and Nayantara.

“When I penned this story, I had Arya in my mind. Thankfully, he agreed to be part of the film. So was Nayantara. She fits the role to a 'T'. It is a romantic comedy that will have all commercial elements in the right mix”, he says.

“Yuvan Shankar Raja shares a good rapport with me. His tunes in ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ were popular. Working with him is a great experience,” he says and adds: “Plans are on to release ‘Boss Engira Bhaskaran’ in April 2010.”
